Harris Black was proud to be a sponsor of the recent Open Haven Gala evening. Open Haven is a registered charity that provides a safe and confidential place for survivors of domestic violence abuse. In addition to the weekly support Hubs, the organisation provides Restoration Plans and various Restoration Programs to assist victims regain their independence.
The event was a resounding success and raised in excess of $100,000 of much needed funds.
This year, for our Melbourne Cup celebrations, the Harris Black office headed to the Story Bridge Hotel spending the day at The Corner Bar enjoying a great atmosphere with plentiful food and drinks. Although HB did not win the fashion show, and no one picked the winner, a good time was had by all, and another great HB function was added to the history books.
Harris Black welcomed Grace Dunn to our team back in August 2022. Grace joined us as an undergraduate accountant, she is in her final year of completing dual Bachelor degrees of Business and Law at QUT.
Grace would ideally spend all day at home soaking up quality time with her family and friends. While at home she refuses to watch the Dr Who and Hunger Games series. Grace has a keen interest in playing the acoustic guitar and the intricacies of the Australian Constitution (as befitting her lawyerly nature).
Although sadly impossible, Grace would love to share a meal with the notable company of Gordon Ramsay, Gough Whitlam, her Grandmother Mary and Alexander Fleming. Speaking of famous people, Grace is related to the Former Chief Justice of Australia, Harry Gibbs and Australian Diplomats; Hugh and James Dunn.
If Grace ever finds herself heading for a deserted island, she would bring a desalination plant, a good book and a kettle. Her dream car at the moment is the current year Volkswagen Polo TDI. Grace wishes that the early 1940’s fashion trend of shoulder pads would come back into style.
