HB Tech Space: MYOB And Xero Receipt Capture

Once upon a time, even the smallest of businesses would need to dedicate hours each week to manually retain and record receipts in their accounting software. This was in addition to engaging with bookkeepers and accountants to make certain everything was done correctly!

Luckily, with the emergence of online accounting software, like MYOB and Xero, it’s never been easier to automate these processes to save time, money and reduce stress.

One feature of MYOB and Xero which is often underutilized is the receipt capture app, which allows users to snap a photo of a receipt and have the details from the receipt automatically upload into their accounting file.

We personally love using this feature at Harris Black as the app scans and reads the relevant information on your receipt then matches to your bank transactions in real time so you can drastically reduce your manual administration time.

The app also provides functionality to allow employees to submit an expense claim on the spot when they scan a receipt. No more paper receipts to organise, and users receive an up-to-date picture of their expenses.

The receipt capture function is included in the MYOB Capture and Xero apps, which are accessible via the Google Play and Apple App store.

Get capturing and say goodbye to your stack of paper receipts!

Transformational Growth – Practical Strategies To Accelerate Growth In 2023 For Your Business

Growing a business in a volatile market is challenging. While great marketing and sales strategies are important, it’s also about ensuring the products/services being delivered have been transformed to suit the evolving needs of customers.

In this workshop we looked at ‘Transformational Growth – Practical strategies to accelerate growth in 2023 for your business’.

Discussed on the day:

Three ways to avoid stagnation in your growth strategies for 2022/2023
How customer friction can drive innovation and growth
Your pricing and business model – profitability
Group problem solving – address your number one challenge or opportunity

Overall, it was a terrific day with attendees walking away with clarity on practical ways they can stress test their plans and approaches to execution for the year ahead.

If you are interested in joining our practical and high-value learning sessions, please mark 17 November 2022 in your calendar to ensure you save the date for our next HB Business Leaders Forum workshop.

The Cambodian Children’s Fund works on the ground in Cambodia to offer support to people in need. CCF works in direct contact with the most at risk students, their families and wider community members to create a highly responsive approach in addressing the daily issues faced by those living in extreme poverty.  CCF’s mission is to transform the lives of the most impoverished, marginalized and neglected children in Cambodia through high quality education, leadership training and direct support programs.

This event is co-presented by one of our Harris Black clients, MJS Floorcoverings.

Meet the Staff: Taylor Dicken

Harris Black welcomed Taylor Dicken to our team back in March 2022. Taylor has proven himself to be a valuable member of the Harris Black team and is to be congratulated for his recent promotion to Supervisor! Taylor enjoys going on weekend adventures with his family and recently trekked out to Stanthorpe for a getaway. When he is not busy with his wife and two young children, Taylor enjoys playing adventure style video games (his favorite franchise being the Dark Souls series).

Taylor’s dream place to live would be in a penthouse on the edge of Bondi beach. An ideal dinner party for Taylor would include the company of Warren Buffet, Lionel Messi, Queen Elizabeth II, and his Grandma Sarah.

In the unlikely case that he is stranded on a deserted island, Taylor would bring a water-powered generator, a wide-brim hat and a pocketknife. His Nan kindly taught him the skill of knitting and he wishes he could master the art of cooking dinner.

Taylor is looking forward to getting married in October and will be celebrating by enjoying a few glasses of his favourite beverage.. Bundaberg Rum & Coke. We pass on our well wishes to Taylor and his fiance Jacinta.

Having Trouble Finding Staff Right Now?

by Renee Bettenay

When I filmed this video 12 months ago, I never thought it would be an even more critical issue for businesses.  There is no doubt our clients are having trouble finding staff to fill roles within their business.  This leads to the business owner and remaining staff picking up the slack and working in an unsustainable way which inhibits the business’ ability to grow.

Given this is such a topical issue, I thought I should repost the video to remind ourselves on possible ways to combat these staff shortages.

How can we help you?

Today’s financial environment demands a regular review of strategy and a focus on execution.
